By the end of the eighth grade, every Orchard Knob Middle School student will have met his/her fullest academic potential and be ready to transition to the next stage of learning by displaying a sense of responsibility and respect for self and others. Our School-Wide Positive Behavior Support System, along with our open door policy, will enhance the relationship between the community, faculty/staff, and students.
The school's mission will be accomplished through:
A student-centered program
A supportive, caring environment
An accepting of personal responsibilities
A respect and consideration for all
A positive attitude toward school
A clear academic challenge
A curriculum to ensure success
A continuous learning process
A community of life-long learners
Originally a Chattanooga City Public School, Orchard Knob Junior High School was opened in 1961. After the merger of Chattanooga City and Hamilton County Schools in 1997, Orchard Knob Junior High School became Orchard Knob Middle School. A new wing was constructed and opened in 1995, which currently contains the sixth grade classrooms, a computer lab, a science lab, and teacher's lounge.
